US Ambassador Greg Delaway has again criticised the Constitutional, which continues to lack judges. He has said that candidates should even be elected, including women.
While Kosovo is celebrating its 10th anniversary of the constitution, it is facing emptiness in the Constitutional Court. The Assembly should choose honest, qualified and apolitical candidates, including women, to serve Kosovo in this distinguished court”, Delawie wrote.
In the Constitutional Court, only two -- Radomir Laban from the Serb community -- and Bajram Latifi from other communities -- have been elected, even before they were elected.
This is not the first time Delawi has criticised this institution and has asked the Parliament's deputies to choose judges outside politics for the Constitutional Court, but to be good lawyers.
Today's “Parliament vote to complete the five empty seats in the Constitutional Court is key to strengthening the rule of law in Kosovo. I call on MPs to put aside politics and to choose candidates who are the best people for this job -- good lawyers reflecting Kosovo's diversity, including women” -- had earlier written Delawi.
