Kosovo has a lack of water, and with current capacities it is unable to afford all supply requirements. Even so, institutions have done nothing in creating new water resources, while “ending” the existing ones, writes today “Koha Ditore”.
Their situation continues to be deteriorating and with an increasing tendency to degradation. Although the Constitution and the Law in effect for the waters guarantees the development and sustainable exploitation of water resources, according to environmental issues connoisseurs, Kosovo continues to face problems of mismanagement of these resources.
For 18 years after the war, institutions have failed to approve the Strategy for Water. Although a draft strategy was drafted in 2014, it has already gone to the Kosovo Assembly for review. All actions taken in the waterfield are based on the 1983 Masterwater Plan. However, according to environmental experts, the current situation does not coincide with that of the years, 80s.
