UNMIK's Future Discussed, US Seeks Extraction of This Mission

France, the United Kingdom and the US have recognised independence and supported the Kosovo government, while China and Russia reject independence and support Serbia's position.

The US urges the withdrawal of UNMIK, citing the large staff for small responsibilities. For this modification of UNMIK's mandate would bring improvement to the situation. Any kind of effort to change UNMIK's status quo would require new resolution, which is blocked by Russia. What an attitude China would hold, is unknown.
