At a National Power Association convention, US President Donald Trump has confirmed his commitment to protect the weapons use laws as long as he is on duty. Trump had signalled the stricter measures following the massacre at a school in Florida, but it seems everything has been a false alarm.
US President Donald Trump has assured members of the National Power Association that their right to possession of weapons will not be affected.
Speaking at a convention in Dallas, Texas, Trump stated: “your rights in the Second Amendment will not be threatened as long as I am your president”.
The head of state also reaffirmed his proposal after the massacre at a school in Florida, that trained teachers be allowed to carry weapons.
Democratic representatives of the American Congress have proposed changes in weapons policy, including increased controls and a ban on military-type rifles, which they say would not affect the Second Amendment to the American Constitution for arms maintenance.
Since the Florida school massacre, where 17 people were killed, Trump promised he would take concrete measures to stop weapons. But the president's final message contrasts with his earlier comments.
