Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, through a Facebook post, has announced to have spoken with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, who has told him that Kosovo is ready to close the conflict chapter with Serbia and start peace.
“just days before the observance of the EU's historic joint summit and Western Balkan states in Sofia, I again today held a friendly telephone conversation with the host of this summit, Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, the state that currently heads the presidency of the European Union”, Thaci wrote.
He has said that with the Bulgarian prime minister again, he has discussed the importance and great opportunity the summit offers to clarify the European road to Kosovo and all other Western Balkan states.
The key condition for EU membership, in addition to meeting the Copenhagen criteria, certainly is to close open issues between all states in our region, which are designed to join the EU”, Thaci wrote.
“Within this context, for Kosovo and Serbia, remains vital to reaching the legal commitment agreement for normalisation and reconciliation. I assured my friend Boyko that we in Kosovo, we are willing to close the conflict chapter in the relationship with Serbia and open it to”, he has said.
This spirit of peace and co-operation, I will convey on behalf of our citizens even at the Sofia Summit, because we are Europeans and our behaviors should be such. This was my main message to my friend Boyko, who deserves great respect and consideration for organizing this” Summit.
