The commander of the Kosovo Security Force, Lieutenant General Guman Rama, is in Washington for a meeting with the chief of the American National Guard Bureau General Joseph L. Langyel. The National Guard in the United States includes army reserve forces.
Rama's visit comes at a time when the issue of turning the Security Force into the military has been restored to Kosovo. A few days ago, Prime Minister Haradinaj said the country will not wait without borders, but will act towards the establishment of the Kosovo Army, even without constitutional changes. The government has submitted the draft law on changing the mission of this force.
This is not the first time such a bill has been deposited, reports the Voice of America. His approval requires the vote of the Serb minority, which so far opposes the bill. Kosovo's strategic partners, the United States and the European Union have called on Kosovo, for the formation of the military to take place only through constitutional changes.
