Russian lawmakers unanimously approved on Tuesday, during their first reading, the bill to retaliate against the United States and other Western countries for deployment last month to sanctions against some of the largest Russian companies and businessmen broadcast VoA.
One of the measures would empower the Kremlin to impose in response “against-sanction” inclusively. Under another measure, the implementation of sanctions imposed by the US against Russia is considered criminal offence or the delivery of data or advice concerning punitive acts.
Under the proposed law, refusal to offer services, or refusing to do business with Russian oligarchs or companies to which sanctions were imposed by the US, would be sentenced to up to four years in prison. The proposed measures have alarmed investors and opened the prospect of a cycle of revenge actions.
After the bill secured approval in its first reading, Kremlin official Alexander Sinenko said the Russian government supports parliamentary response to sanctions aimed at punishing Moscow for its alleged intervention in the 2016 American presidential election and other malicious activities.
US President Donald Trump ordered the implementation of sanctions last month.
Russia's revenge will have insignificant impact on The U.S.A., since trade flows are insignificant. But revenge would upset already tense US-Russia relations, which analysts consider the lowest point since the Cold War.
As they say, the United States sanctions imposed on Russia in April, aimed at more than 20 oligarchs close to Russian President Vladimir Putin, have proved they have had a greater impact on Russia than expected. But at this stage, sanctions are doing nothing about the possibility of countering ordinary citizens to the Kremlin, or minimising the overall popularity of the Russian leader, always if the latest voting data is correct.
