The agreement envisions the implementation of the project in line and meeting the objectives of Kosovo's National Cultural Heritage Strategy (2017-27) and aims to draft a strategic document for management and maintenance of cultural heritage, and sustainable restoration and integration of the local community through economic development; Preparing preliminary projects to restore 14 cultural heritage buildings on Marin Barlett Street; Preparation of the urban design project for Marin Barlett Street, which includes technical aspects and urban furniture.
Minister Kujtim Gashi, who signed on behalf of the MKRS, praised that signing the multilateral agreement becomes a context of implementing the Law for the Prizren Historical Centre and the Law for Cultural Heritage and in line with official obligations and duties.
“With the case of signing the letter of the agreement we are clearly demonstrating our will and willingness to take some concrete actions for the Prizren Historical Centre”, said Minister Gashi.
“In the application of the Law on Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, and I as minister, have been committed to the process of inventory and granting temporary protection status to the assets of cultural heritage, the company that preventive-invention measures, but also as you may be aware we have implemented many capital projects in QHP<1>, the minister said.
The minister has announced the actions the MKRS has undertaken for treatment, conservation and restoration of heritage facilities, as well as increased budgets in this area.
