(8 years ago)Macedonia's Special Prosecutor called for punitive ruling for Nikola Gruevski and Djoko Popovski in the Tanku case. The specialist in concluding words said that the former prime minister's personal wishes, in connection with the luxury armoured Mercedes, have been fulfilled through the procurement carried out by the MPB. The Special pointed out that before buying the expensive Mercedes, there was a procedure to buy a used, armoured automobile, but police have changed their minds.
The defendants' lawyers, however, demanded a release order for Gruevski and Popovski. The procedure for Gordana Jankulovska has been separated due to dangerous pregnancy.
The former prime minister risks prison sentences of 1-3 years, which could also be conditional, while former Interior Minister Djoko Popovski is facing prison sentences of over five years. Both have been charged in Tanku class for procurement of luxury Mercedes worth over 600 thousand euros.
