During Sunday Mass, the pope spoke about the situation in Gaza and prayed for peace there.
Palestinian authorities have said more than 110 Palestinians have been killed during clashes between the Gaza and Israel Belt border since March.
Deadly protests at the Gaza-Israel border also occurred on the day when the United States opened its Embassy in Jerusalem.
