An inspection report by the Kosovo Police Inspectorate “Mby making use of official cars overtime” has exposed many shortcomings and problems during the use of cars by Kosovo police officials, KTV reports.
In just one day, from 100 cars that had been used overtime, the inspector had verified that some had been used with expired authorization.
The IPK has also identified that a number of officials used official police vehicles with no authorization to use at all.
Inspection has noted that any nine police vehicle that is approaching police parking lots and used outside regular working hours is used without authorization.
Of the 99 inspection vehicles, 9 of them have been used by drivers with expired authorization.
In 11 cases, however, the inspectors have found that car users have failed to provide evidence of why they used them with authorization.
This way of using official police vehicles, The IPK calls it irrational and not responsible, bringing negative image to the police organization.
The IPK considers this situation to be a result of the neglect of certain police officials to inline the requirements with the reasons for using official vehicles overtime and issuing or replacing authorisations.
While communications experts say this management of official cars speaks of the Kosovo Police's lack and non-professionalism.
In the report, the Inspectorate stresses the fact that although there are authorisations issued by the Police Director General for Official vehicles that can be used overtime, there is no such thing as the Home Affairs Ministry approved.
The Kosovo police have not responded to these issues.
