In Astana in Kazakhstan has started the ninth round of peace talks for Syria, negotiations these are sponsored by Iran, Russia and Turkey.
Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Anwar Zhainaqov told reporters that UN special envoy for Syria Stiffan de Ministure is expected to join talks later this day, while the Syrian armed opposition delegation is expected to arrive in Astana on 15 May.
He added that the United States will not participate in this round of talks.
In the past, the US has sent delegations to talks in the Kazakh capital.
In addition to talks in Astana, negotiations sponsored by the United Nations have been held in Geneva in an effort to find a political solution in order to end the seven-year Syrian civil war.
Russia and Iran back the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, meanwhile Turkey and the United States, support various rebel groups.
Over 330,000 people have been killed in Syria, and millions more have been forced to flee their homes since the conflict began in March 2011.
