Enraged by the 14-year-old Karacheva beat, PDK deputy Xhevahire Izaku is calling for the introduction of the death penalty in the Kosovo Criminal Code.
“An adult beat a child to death and abuses, if the minister had brought a draft of the Penal Code where he is trying to bring capital punishment, I would have voted”, Izak said, says Klan Kosova.
But, according to Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri's lawyers, this is turning out to be impossible.
Professor and legal expert Mazlum Baraliu says the most severe sentence cannot enter into practice in Kosovo, since our country intends to enter the EU.
The “states that claim membership in the European Union is that they in their penal code dare not face the death penalty, or capital punishment”, Baraliu said.
Even Justice Minister Ableard Tahiri does not see the possibility that with the new Penal Code the death penalty will be introduced, but says there will be heavier sanctions for perpetrators of serious criminal acts.
