Prizren Mayor Mytaher Haskuka has posted a Facebook text on the Kosovo Parliament's decision to declare Prizren, which he leads as the historic capital of the Republic, Periscope reports.
He has said the character of this decision is only symbolic, and that only the truth is Prizren's characteristic attribute, as a city with over 2,000 years of history.
Speaking to Prizren, as a town that has been the head centre of Kosovo's Willajet in the Ottoman Empire, and as the informal capital of the Albanian state, he has suggested that parliament's decision in the future be fulfilled “in content with laws, and separate funds so that these values can be preserved and cultivated for future generation. ”
This is the full writing of Prizren chairman Haskuka:
The decision of the Kosovo Parliament to declare Prizren the historic capital is currently only symbolic. This decision at the moment is only a confirmation of Prizren's characteristic attribute, as a city with over 2,000 years of history, which has carried on the civilian values of our people throughout history.
During the long-time Ottoman period has been the head centre of Kosovo's Vilajet, which stretched from Leskovci in today's Serbia, Beran in Montenegro, the territory of Kosovo, the Skopje of Kocanin in Macedonia and a part of Albania until Debar. From 1878 for three years, Prizren was unofficially the capital of the Albanian state in formation, the place where the idea of the state and the Albanian nation came up, while until 1948 it was also Kosovo's capital within the Yugoslav state.
This decision of parliament, in the future, must be met strictly with separate laws and funds so that these values can be preserved and cultivated for future generations. Prizren is the largest culture barn of our people, which has been unfairly overlooked. ”
