Pal Lekaj accused of hurting the Gjakova municipality for 70 thousand euros

The former head of the Gjakova municipality and current Minister of Infrastructure Paul Lekaj is accused of misusing official office and embezzlement in office.

KA LLXO.com has secured the indictment against Lekaj and former director of the Directorate for Agriculture Ismet Isufi, who is charged with the same criminal acts by the Special Prosecutor. Five more people are charged.

The prosecution claims that the accused in the quality of the official person in 2008-2014, with the aim of illegally benefiting property for themselves or the other person, have adopted the property entrusted to them according to the official position they had, not overseeing distribution and subsidies payments,

So in the indictment it is alleged that the defendants, acting in full opposition to the law, engaged in a <x0 business. U n NION-VL”, without any contract or deal, without looking at the distribution of subsidies from this business.

Under the indictment, decisions issued by defendant Paul Lekaj cover only the amount of 235,400 euros, while other decisions have no legal basis and amounting to 631,671,82 euros.

The indictment reportedly says that as a consequence of action contrary to the Law on Public Finances, bills received by defendants do not include the content of concrete transactions because they have failed to respect the funding for subsidies, taking monetary means and other budgetary lines.

The prosecution further claims that such actions caused damage to the Gjakova municipality budget of 69,786,000 euros.

The indictment shows that because of the actions of the accused, a huge number of farmers have not accepted subsidies at all.

The charges concern the time when Lekaj was head of the Gjakova municipality, while Isuffy Director of Agriculture, means 2008-2014.

Initial examination is expected to be established against the defendants.

KA LLXO.com wrote on 12 April of the indictment filed against Lekaj, while the ministry commented on Facebook, stating it has always acted in accordance with the law.

In May last year, the Gjakova Foundation Court had stopped criminal procedure against defendants Paul Lekaj, Qazim Mehmeti and Nikolla Llesi, who were accused of misusing official duty in co-ordination.

According to the indictment, Lekaj, Mehmet and Llesey were charged with overcoming competencies in the month of March 2012 in order to benefit any wealth for themselves or for the other by causing damage to the Gjakova municipality and residents of the village of Jahoc of this municipality in a road asphalt project during the time that Lekaj was head of the Gjakova municipality.
