Kosovo's Afarism Oda (OAK) organised a table with business women, where it was discussed the numerous challenges of doing business, including the labour Law, which is considered a law of interest to society as a whole.
During this meeting many complaints were highlighted in the current law, and it was required that this law be changed, for itself, the fact that its provisions make women discriminate, forcing private businesses to start being more selective during the recruiting process, as this is remaining a heavy burden on businesses.
Donika Gashi, the OAK co-ordinator, stressed that the Law on Child Rest, is seen as an important instrument for helping women build a career. Oda is committed to supporting the empowerment of business women, and as a result, she is interested in forming the business sector of women in OAK.
Drita Rexhepi stressed that implementation of the labour law differs from the public and private sector, so this requires the involvement of many actors, public debates, pressure on responsible persons and the establishment of relevant mechanisms for fighting this phenomenon.
While Gloms Colak stressed that the enormous problem of barking off for businesses is the fact that in addition to paying off the lehonia rest, they have been forced to take even one employee to replace one that goes on vacation.
Colak recommended that private sector reliefs should be made, whether at taxes or other incentives for businesses that employ women.
According to her, the lehonia law is a heavy burden on her business and is directly affected by this law, because there is a staff of about 80 female employees and lehonia rest payments are weighing her twice as much, not only the payment that has to be made for the lehon, but also for the replacement she needs to be hired.
During this meeting in conversation with business women, OAK comes up with some of the recommendations:
1. The leukemia vacation will cover 100 per cent from the state for 12 months.
2. Initially in the 30-day period before the birth of the female child, I can take birth break and this 30-day period be covered by business 100% of the current salary;
3. And allow the mother in case she wishes to continue rest for another three months, in such cases the rest will be free of charge.
4. It is recommended to apply child-bearing incentives, the Government provides additions for every child born;
Citing it as a matter of national interest and interest of public policy, the OAK thinks that to change this very serious trend at the expense of women, the state is the one who needs to take over the payment of legons.
Kosovo's Afarism Oda is committed to continuing to support Kosovo business further, being a strong business voice.
