Senior test needs to get better because of the copying that's happening. However, the complete removal of the test should not be done. In fact, education experts view the idea of removing this test as wrong.
However, the head of the State Commission for the Matura Test, Fehmi Hyseyan, says they will open up the debate over the issue, even though this test remains vital in light of the school's performance.
In an interview for Kosova Press, he has stressed that the prom test is a legal obligation, calling on all factors involved in the process to be aware of the importance of conducting the test.
“We're going to open the debate on this job, we're not the ones who prevent it and get rid of it, we're not the ones who brought the senior test, but I think we should mature, especially the managers who have often not been to the task level”, he said.
According to him, the importance of this test also lies in the summary of students ' achievements during pregraduate schooling, in which despite the shortcomings of the senior test that have been shown especially during his studies, he is optimistic that this time everything will be better.
It's just that where we crawled into administration that students didn't match their knowledge. It means that a student with good success is the best of points or of the best that is not real. We're hoping that we've taken all the measures so this won't happen this time and I have the conviction that the best students will top the list of all schools”, he said.
While, education affairs expert Dukagjin Pupovci has said of KosovaPress, the prom test is marked with a high degree of cheating and fraud, which testifies to its poor management.
In this regard, he says that management should urgently improve to the extent that no one can benefit through fraud.
I understand the frustration of people with the senior test for the fact that it is marked by a high degree of cheating and cheating. This is going on for 10 years now. It should also be understood that the prom test is the only instrument that the state has to put some control on what is being worked in Kosovo's high school, so that, there should be improved senior test management and should be improved to the extent that no one is likely to benefit through fraud and copying”, he said.
The executive director from the Centre for Education in Kosovo estimates that although heard many times, the idea for the removal of the senior test remains wrong.
The appearance of the senior test, a often found, is very wrong with the fact that then everything remains in the hands of criteria which are not stable, are individual, depend on school, teachers, and so on. Plus, there may be negative effects on recognising Kosovo abroad because in other countries, the prom test is an stabbered mechanism, which the state uses to encourage schools to work properly because they know students will one day come to a test that does not depend on the teacher. But when the test is compromised in the sense of allowing fraud and copying, then it's not worth it, and then normal, that doesn't mobilize anyone. Therefore, all efforts to improve management must be instructed, he stressed.
The education director in the municipality of Pristina, Ionuz Salihaj, in a written reply has stated for KosovoPress that organising the senior test is still far from European standards.
According to him, the assessment as a process is of value only when the optimum conditions for it are created, otherwise the process is compromised.
The State Framework is regulated by law and is binding on any senior. The issue of organising the evaluation process is still far from European standards. For this reason, excellent students happen to get weak in this process, while those who use illegal means in testing do better. This is very disappointing for most students, demotivated and demoralized the best students and contaminated the entire process”, he stressed.
To overcome negative phenomena and earn seniors' confidence in this process, Salihaj says several steps are urgently needed, which are: the formation of the National Centre for Foreign Education, the subsistential improvement in the preparation of measurement instruments and much better management of the testing process.
