The fourth man to hit the moon died in Texas at the age of 86, the family reported, writes BBC.
Later in life he became a successful artist, producing drawings that inspired them had space, conveys Klan Kosova.
His family reported that two weeks ago he got worse and that he died peacefully in Houston's hospital.
Astronaut, Mike Massimino described Bean as the most extraordinary “person I've ever met”.
In 1963 the former U.S. Navy pilot was selected for a NASA training.
He was then twice in space, the first in November 1969 when with Apollo 12 landed on the moon and in 1973 when he was the flight leader Skylab at the first American space station.
