So said Alban Hashan, executive director of the Riinvest Institute on the case of a presentation of the study, Komunal Competitiveness outlook (MCI).
Hashani has said businesses consider that municipalities should be even more transparent. Therefore, according to him, the goal of studying the Kosovo Communist Competition Index is to measure the competitiveness of municipal governance in creating a favourable business environment at the local level.
The best performing municipalities under this index are: Lipjan, Rahoveci, Vitita, Junik, Hani Elez, Gjakova, Podujevo, Obilqi, Pristina and Suhareka.
James Hope, Director of the U MissionAID for Kosovo said municipalities should take into account the found and work hard for the business environment, creation of new jobs and be more transparent for citizens and businesses.
Lipjan Mayor Imri Ahmeti said the municipal environment cannot be indifferent at the national level.
He said this study shows that municipalities should do even more for the business environment in municipalities.
Muhedin Nushi from the Pristina municipality, who did not like Pristina's ranking at ninth place, asked organisers what methodology they used for this study.
The MCI USAID study presented the municipal governance index for 38 municipalities in Kosovo, making local governance assessments based on a supporting business development environment. The findings are based on the survey made with 3350 businesses from all municipalities.
