Dennis Garcia, accused of robbery, spent a total of 16 years pending his trial.
He has said that up to 400 persons have been sheltered inside a prison room, reports “BBC”, report Periscope.
In some cases the number has increased to 700. He also relates when he was released from prison, saying that before facing the court, he had thought of death many times.
The Manila city prison has the capacity for 800 prisoners, but there are more than 5, 500 prisoners.
