Until 20 years ago, Europe's Day was being marked in Lapusnik, Drenas, was under way in a fierce struggle between the forces of the Kosovo Liberation Army and Serb invaders, the battle known as the Battle of the Lapusnik Grip.
In the Lapusnik Battle, held on May 8, 9th and 10th of 1998, 47 martyrs and 54 martyrs fell, while this was one of the most glorious KLA battles.
Units that carried on the battle with unique heroism were dove, steel, and river formations.
The war that has been fought at the Lapusnik Ring Battle to control this area has been most important for the Kosovo Liberation Army, where Serb forces in that part made it impassable.
This event was also the beginning of the creation of free zones controlled by the KLA and other areas of Kosovo, both in Malisheva and Dukagjin. This situation, created after the seizure of the Lapusnik Grasque, offered much better opportunities for communication, extent, development, organisation and supply for all other KLA units. It was a time when massification and mobilization of The KLA, peaked and increased population confidence in the KLA unit.
