The Kosovo government has decided that the salaries of Kosovo Post and Telecom workers will drop by 40 per cent. The Kosovo executive's decision comes after winning arbitration against the Akos company, which demanded damages of hundreds of millions of euros.
The chairman of the National Council of Social Democrat Initiative, Jakup Krasniqi, has reacted to this decision.
He wrote in a Facebook post that with workers' salaries down, Post and Telecom not saved.
Here's Krasniqi's full post:
Reducing salaries to PTK workers is not her salvation!
To Salvation PTK should be declared that NP is in general financial crisis, efficient, professional management, etc. At that point, adequate measures must be planned to be taken for marking the situation. Perhaps the last measure that would have to be taken was and would be reducing workers ' wages.
The first step that would have to be taken in that profitable NP (was), would have to be a professional analysis of all the circumstances (reasons) that brought PTK into position, at least for the past ten years. When is it known publicly that her bastard, created from within Z-mobili and her partner Ipko, are successfully operating and very profitable? Why does PTK, with all the infrastructure that has to be brought in? So, it requires general recording of the situation and so far nobody is interested in that?
If a professional analysis was done, it would be needed and where the “successful” Kosovo's Court of Arbitrazhi reports to AXOS. No doubt the success is of Arbitrazhi, who has observed the many shortcomings she has had without legal efforts for privatisation. Under normal conditions, the state would have to investigate that effort for privatisation. In this case, at least it would have to be commended for those who wanted to sell PTK, for which I don't believe the real buyer was AXOS.
In short, many other investigative actions would have to take place, identify all the causes that led to the situation in PTK, and the last measure to be taken, would be to reduce workers' salaries. Although, it would also have to be seen how employment has been done so far, and how is it being done even now?
One thing was to be known by those who want to take responsibility to govern or manage public wealth. It requires that they know a lot, that they want to do things well and lovingly, and then come - responsibility, commitment, professionalism, and efficiency in government or management.
