Kosovo police during this period have pronounced 118. 743 tickets to lawbreakers, respectively, says Daut Hoxha, a Kosovo Police Information Official.
Kosovo's “Police are dedicated to taking necessary measures to create a safer environment in road communication, and can confirm that even after approval of the new Law, continued operational police measures --” are under way.
The total number of fatal accidents remains disturbing because of an increase of over 4 percent”, Hoxha says.
In contrast with last year, the same time period, as well as fatal accidents, but those with material damage, have seen risings.
Despite the police's commitment and fined of communications offenders during 2017, 24 fatal accidents have been in January-April, while 27 people have lost their lives during that period.
Daut Hoxha further adds that relevant police units are active in managing and controlling road traffic on all roads of the Republic of Kosovo, where now in order to preserve public safety and boost overall security in road traffic, the patrol has begun.
This patrol, which is believed to be more efficient, in addition to the preventative aspect, will be more practical even in the shortest time achievement where police intervention” is required.
Kosovo's “Police consistently appeal to all communications participants to abide by the rules that emerge from the Law on Road Traffic in order to avoid traffic accidents, and thus contribute to greater security for all participants in traffic. On the contrary, Kosovo Police will take punitive measures against violators of law”, Hoxha explains.
On the other hand, communications expert Nol Deday, speaking of Radio Free Europe, says there are no institutions in Kosovo dealing with the security problem in communications. He also says that there is no road safety law, vehicle law, license-viser law, driving regulations, and that, as Deday says, causes the number of accidents to increase every time.
To reduce the number of accidents, it's the first study of security elements and cause of the human and road accident, or road elements. There are many high-level dangerous countries in Kosovo. A vehicle factor is also a factor in accidents. Cars shouldn't be in place for 10 years. This is the disaster that has destroyed the road safety system”, Deday estimates.
In order to prevent and reduce cases of legal violations in traffic, punitive measures have been tightened this year, but statistics have not shown any improvements even after these austerity measures.
