Kosovo wins an important battle in Arbitrazh

Lawyer Besnik Berisha through a status on his social Facebook network has indicated that the Republic of Kosovo has won the battle in Arbitraz against the Axos GMBH company, which demanded hundreds of millions of euros in damages from the Republic of Kosovo, to cancel the privatisation of 75% of PTK shares. With this decision, Axos [...]

With this decision, Axos GMBH is forced to pay the Republic of Kosovo 2m euros in terms of expenses for representation and not alone. As one of those who believed in this victory and who together with former Prime Minister Mustafa, former Minister Blerand Stavileci and other colleagues of the cabinet of the prime minister and the respective ministries, we have co-ordinated all the defence procedures for the interests of the Republic of Kosovo and selected our representative in Arbitrazh, I am extremely happy with this epilogue”, Berisha wrote.

In October of last year, the Government of Kosovo authorized the American company “Patton Boggs” to represent Kosovo in the Arbitrazhi International Tribunal against the company “AXOS”

To that end, the Government has paid over 150,000 euros to this company.

Kosovo to face arbitration with company “A CP Axos Capital Gmbh”, which had been declared the winner in the 2013 tender for the privatisation of 75 percent of the mobile phone company “Vala”, for which it had offered 277m euros, but after several delays the government did not sign the contract with the company.

From the “Axos” indictment, if the Kosovo government loses the case, it risks losing 180m to 500m euros.

The company “Patton Boggs” with headquarters in Washington was engaged by the Government of Kosovo, when Hashim Thaci was prime minister, to lobby for Kosovo. This company was paid $50,000 a month for this service by Thaci's office.

“Patton Boggs” was paid by the Prime Minister's Office to offer Kosovo “Adviser services in legal affairs and accruing to use for expanding bilateral and multilateral relations”.

Even the past government, led by Isa Mustafa, had allocated 150 thousand euros to prepare for confronting arbitration with the company “A CP Axos Capital Gmbh”. (r.m. )
