At the border checkpoint with Serbia, in Jarinje, Kosovo authorities have arrested Serb Dejan Slavic, suspected of committing war crimes in Kosovo. In announcing the so-called Kosovo office in Serbia's Government, Slavic is said to have been arrested today as war crimes suspect.
Dejan Slavic, born in 1974 who lived in Obilic until 2003, while currently living in Lazarevac, has been arrested in Jarina and has been assigned the 48-hour detention measure.
This Office has called his arrest undemocratic and non-legal, referring to Kosovo's secretlists.
According to this office, he and other Serbs “are being arrested on the basis of false charges and suspicions”.
This office reportedly provided Slavics with legal protection.
In Kosovo, Serbia has committed numerous war crimes to the extent of genocide, and so far few Serbs have been convicted of crimes against Albanians.
