U.S. military base commander “Bandstein” in Kosovo, Colonel Nick Ducich, the security situation in Kosovo has praised and stable, saying KFOR soldiers are doing everything to ensure a safe environment and freedom of movement for Kosovo residents.

The security situation in my area is calm and stable. In my opinion, the biggest problems Kosovo faces, and as shown by the recent European Commission reports, are corruption and organised crime”, Ducich has said of the Serbian newspaper “Novost”.

According to him, through real debate and dialogue, there certainly are solutions to political issues as well.

Asked whether he is aware of the problems facing the Serbian people and whether he has contacts with ordinary people in the field, Ducich responded positively, adding that with Serbs he is especially contacted after church service.

He also says his strongest impressions in Kosovo are twofold. The first “is the historical and religious importance of Kosovo and then the desire to resolve urgent issues in order to create better economic and educational opportunities”, Ducich said.

The American Colonel says he has met with Serbian politicians, mayors and ordinary people, as well as with Serbian Army colleagues.

He also said that in the near future he will visit central Serbia for the first time, where he will meet again with representatives of the Serbian Army.
