Babchenko also appeared at a press conference on Ukrainian television on Wednesday, saying the illegal reports of his death were part of an operation that had been prepared for two months.
Babchenko thanked the Ukrainian Security Service for saving his life.
Kiev police and Ukraine's Interior Ministry officials said Tuesday that Babchenko has died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital after being shot on the back of his apartment in Kiev, where he has been living in exile since August 2017.
