Israel has now withdrawn from the race against Germany and Belgium for two countries between 10 members in rotation at the UN Security Council 2019/20.
That is due to minor chances of winning, a source said near the UN.
The UN General Assembly, with 193 members, should vote in June for five new countries to be accepted for the period of two years, beginning January 1st, 2019.
