State leaders have acknowledged that the European Union is for Kosovo priority, while saying visa liberalisation is a chance, not to leave the country, but also to restore those who have left. However, they said that much work is needed to be done to enter the large European family.
These comments were made during a debate with young people on the note of Europe's Day, which included government officials.
Parliament Speaker Kadri Veselini said the European Union is the priority of Kosovo and that they are determined to move in this process.
“We are proud of our national identity, we respect communities. Visa liberalisation for us means chance and opportunity, not to leave the country, but also to bring back those who have escaped”, he said.
Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said Europe is sceptical about enlargement, while citing the fact that five EU countries have not recognised Kosovo, so it is difficult to partnership with Kosovo.
The latest report of progress is an indication that youth and Kosovo are not uneven. Today we are talking about visa liberalisation, later on about candidate status, and all this is like some kind of evil where Kosovo needs to qualify. It's good to know that we'll meet a bigger family. It is not far from this day, I believe that this year we will get visa liberalisation and will not go far from EU candidate status. When liberalisation comes, don't go out looking for asylum”, Haradinaj said.
European Integrations Minister Gift Hoxha said that Kosovo's future is in the European Union, but must work hard in this direction.
She said there is the possibility that next year we will get EU candidate status and all other steps that are in the process of integration.
“If we work together, we will manage to make Kosovo better”, Minister Hoxha said.
