The Kosovo government has started to implement a “Plan B” to transform the Security Force (FSK) into the army, as the cause of the veto of Serbian MPs has not been able to do so through constitutional changes. The new plan envisions a time of 10 years, until the transfer closes, Koha Ditore writes today.
A legal package affecting the KSF organ has already been forwarded to the prime minister's office, and, after passing procedures, will be addressed to the government cabinet. Then, it will be prosecuted for voting in the Assembly. The document will not predict immediate transformation, as has been proved for four years, but will remove certain restrictions related to capacity, mandate and KSF mission.
The prime minister's office has confirmed that the legal package has already arrived.
“Pak of laws for the KSF, sent by the relevant ministry, has been accepted by the Government, but has not yet been prosecuted for the Government's collection. Whenever it is ready for proceedings, we call you”, it is said in a response to the prime minister's office. The government's “interest is for this to happen as soon as possible, but always in interaction with strategic partners”.
