Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri has hosted German Bundestag deputy Katja Keul and Filiz Polat, accompanied by German Ambassador to Kosovo Chirsstian Heldt, to the meeting today.

Minister Tahiri has stressed that the priority in his work has met the conditions for visa liberalisation, engaging in strengthening legislation on fighting corruption and organised crime.

“for Kosovo and its citizens, visa liberalisation means two things: a step forward in the process of European integration and the creation of a platform for ending isolation and gives our citizens the opportunity to expand their views, meeting and recognising other cultures, closely recognising European values” has said Minister Tahiri.

Minister Tahiri has cited the work done in the Law Law Pack and the Anti-Corruption Pack, stressing that for all these laws, numerous experts have been committed, as well as activists from civil society and the academic world, to ensure that with these laws, not only the liberalisation criteria are being met, but are working on ensuring a better life for Kosovo's own citizens.

The visa liberalisation “means that Kosovo has proven to have the capacity to achieve concrete results in fighting corruption and organised crime, which ultimately means better life for our citizens, stronger and more efficient judiciary and absolute respect for human rights” has added to the minister Tahiri.

Minister Tahiri has also announced the German delegation's changes to the Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure and Civil Code, as well as other laws issued by the European Reforms Agency. Also, Minister Tahiri has stressed that all legal gaps and the very institutional organisation will be reviewed once again, within the process of the Functional Review of the Rule of Law Sector, the largest reform undertaken by the Government of Kosovo, which will end with the launch of a sectoral strategy”, it is said in the communiqué to the media.
