On the occasion of May 4th International Fire Day, the Kosovo Fire Department says that this service even this year finds it impervious and very serious in all respects, such as organisation, management, technical capacities and human resources.
“Fireman risks health where the workplace injuries testify and none of the institutions came to the rescue, where all medical costs had to be performed by firemen themselves. We have consistently asked the institutions, since 2008, for this situation to improve, but never showed willingness to solve problems and the situation created”, it says in response.
Moreover, the union commemorates that firefighters function in complete redress with laws in power, ignored, ignored, and without institutional care, which has stirred deep indignation into this category of employees.
The fireman does not compensate for overtime hours, night shifts, state holidays, the lowest of all employee categories in the country, so we invite decision-making institutions to immediately submit this issue and create normal working conditions. We trust in the hope that institutions will reflect positively on our” demands, the response concludes.
Otherwise, in the case of May 4th International Fire Day, states organise different solemn activities, different manifestations as a sign of respect for the work and sacrifices they make in their activities, and emergency readiness by fire fighters to help citizens in need.
