Five people, who were involved in organising Russian presidential elections held on March 18th on Ukrainian Crimea's annexed territory, have been put on the European Union's list of sanctions.
The EU has imposed a series of sanctions following the illegal annexation of Crime from Russia in 2014.
The bloc's member states have imposed travel restrictions and freezing assets on five individuals who had positions in the Criminal Commission, which the EU considers a “active way of supporting and implementing policies that undermine Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence”.
Today's decision causes the overall number of EU-sponsored persons on the conflict in Ukraine to reach 155 people.
