Lawmakers have indicated in favour of this proposal -- Social Democrat Party MP Dardan Moliqaj -- but that they have feared whether they are causing problems before the upcoming recommendation for visa liberalisation for Kosovo citizens. In this case, Moliqaj has proposed two resolution points, which envisions the overall opening of control for the entry of Kosovo and Albania citizens through border crossing points at the Vmica border, Qafe Prush and Qafe Morina, and the launch of necessary constitutional procedures for linking international agreements for the opening of borders for free flow of people who are citizens of the Republic of Albania and Kosovo. VV MP Rexhep Selimi said this border should not exist at all, much more as it has so far existed with huge obstacles. But there were also reservations to implement this resolution.
But there were also deputies who asked to be careful with such resolutions. LDK MP Arben Gashi said in the visa report last year, one of the points has been the return of border control even at the entry point.
While Kosovo Social Democrat Initiative MP Milaim Zeka has called the entire dispute over opening the border with Albania a stupid discussion.
In the end, proposor Dardan Moliqaj said they are not removing borders, but removing control for citizens of both countries. He added that they are demanding that the movement be without control. The resolution is expected to be put to the polls after harmonising with parliamentary groups.
