diaspora willing to help Kosovo even with experts

The diaspora can make many contributions to Kosovo, beyond financial assistance. Thus say Loshaj Hope, adviser to the government of Canada, and Besnik Miftaraj, Kosovo consul in Stuttgart. According to them, Kosovo should offer more space for various aid to numerous Albanian experts living abroad.

“We are diaspora, but we are Kosovo. I miss living as an active Kosovo citizen in Kosovo. I work as a political adviser, and I would happily cooperate with the offices in Kosovo, any technical assistance, the proliferation of strategies and regulations. There are 150 experts who have come and all willing to assist the country”, she said in the Interactive KTV, commenting on the four-day conference “Diaspora Fex3> organised by the Parliament in collaboration with the organisation “Germin”.

According to her, many equipment has come to Kosovo from many different countries, but they have not yet entered the post. She has said that officials have not even known how to work with them, so “should have help with how to function these”.

She has also commented on the state of health, saying that so far she has always been overlooked.

“Health has always been neglected and with the political dedication of the prime minister and minister could happen something and would gladly contribute to developing strategies, implementing rules in the context of Kosovo. So far I have seen that there have been regulations from foreign countries that are not compatible in Kosovo. I haven't met with the Minister of Health, because I haven't heard that he has priorities for health. If he has a priority, I'd love to meet him. They say they have a priority is something else, but if that's what it should be like in the budget. I don't know how much the Kosovo government has shown this”, it has added.

Loshaj has said there are about 50,000 Albanians in Canada, scattered throughout the country. He has said that there are also classes of Albanian learning and that Albanians are well integrated into Canadian society.

On the other hand, Miftaraj has said that the very arrival of 150 experts from different fields for this conference in the country shows that the diaspora is ready to assist Kosovo in all areas.

The structured dialogue started by éGermin's is a huge step, and the gathering of 150 experts from around the world these days in Pristina and connecting with institutions, starting from the Assembly, MPs and the ministers of NGOs, reflects once again clearly that the diaspora is available to help, except the remittances. It turns out that over 90 percent of diaspora members are interested in contributing to the country with their knowledge, with direct engagement in institutions, for at least a few months, depending on obligations in their countries. Various programmes have been designed for various areas how the diaspora can be engaged and be more integral part of our institutions and society”, he said. “The diaspora must switch from a phase of financial support to a phase of intellectual support and professional advice”.

He has cited some of the diaspora's main demands. According to him, officials who came directly from the diaspora must be the strongest voice of the diaspora. Green Carton is another obstacle to the diaspora, but Miftaraj has said that the process of paying security policy is now facilitated because of online access. The commitment of experts and representation in politics-making are other diaspora demands.

In Stuttgart too, according to Miftaw, supplementary learning is followed in Albanian, but according to him is done by a small number of diaspora. He has said that many Albanians in Germany have managed to occupy high positions in various directors and facilitate the institutional approach of Albanians in relation to German institutions.
