The Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo today will hold the new plenary session, where it will select five of the ten constitutional court judges' candidates.
Telegrafi has secured the names of ten candidates who will submit to the secret vote by Kosovo Assembly deputies.
These are the candidates: Nexmi Rexhepi, Remzije Istrefi-Pecci, Radomir Laban, Hajzer Salihu, Safet Hoxha, Bajram Latifi, Rock Manaj, Vigan Qorloli, Albanian Ibraj- Mala and Nebojsa Boriqiq.
Meanwhile, the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo says “The decision to propose seven (7) to judges depends on the adoption of two-thirds of the deputies in the country present and voting. The decision to propose the other two (2) judges deals with most of the votes of the Parliament's deputies, who are present and who vote, but who can only be made after the consent of the majority of the Parliament deputies, who hold seats that are reserved or guaranteed for representatives of communities that are not majority in Kosovo”.
Otherwise, the Constitutional Court consists of nine judges, who will be prominent lawyers and personalities with higher morals, not with less than ten years of respective professional experience. Other respective qualifications are regulated by law.
Today, US Ambassador to Pristina Greg Delaway wrote about this.
He in a Twitter post writes that the vote by MPs to meet the five free jobs in the Constitutional Court is the key to strengthening the rule of law in Kosovo.
Delawi has called on MPs to put aside politics and elect candidates who are best for judges. /Telegraphy/
