Kosovo's ambassador to the US, Vlora Citaku, during her speech to the UN Security Council, has said she is at this meeting to remember all UN states, the suffering Kosovo has experienced during the war.
We've been through many things since the systematic oppression of human rights, but despite bad circumstances we've never given up in hopes we've managed to continue. In Kosovo every day there are commemorations, every day a new memorial opens, people are united in commemorating the sacrifice of the fallen”, Citaku said.
According to her, the generation of this year is the only generation that has not experienced the horrors of war.
This year approximately 30 thousand Kosovars graduate from Universities and will be the first generation not to experience the horrors of war, they are the first generation to grow up without knowing the fear of oppression and not being afraid of war. They are not afraid because freedom is the only one they know and free will always remain”, she stressed.
She in her speech reminded UN states of including Serbia that the horrors that Kosovo has experienced during the last war are the only truth, and any attempt to change that reality, is only a false attempt.
Real truth and reconciliation cannot be built with false efforts. I feel compelled to remind you of all the suffering of the people of Kosovo. That's the only truth and I'm going to keep repeating it and it's time for this to be over. UN member states must know the truth”, she said.
