The main payment of benefits will be no higher than 563 euros per month, but will increase to the equivalent of the amount profiting Austrians (863 euros) only if they pass the German language test.
Migrants will also be barred from taking advantage of such social assistance for the first five years. The conservative Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, who co-governments with the right extreme, has vowed to follow a hard line towards immigrants.
