EU Office chief Nataliya Apostolova during a speech with seniors said that Kosovo has large numbers of students, while Education Minister Shyqi called for better career orientation in order to meet the demands of Kudro businesses.
This, according to them, as a result of lack of quarts in certain professions, is inconsistencies between the number of unemployed and free jobs.
During a lecture held at the “high school Sami Frasher” in Pristina, Apostolova said it is disturbing that fact, as there should be strong association of students with the market, but in Kosovo the market cannot afford them.
In addition, Apostolova confirmed that Kosovo's EU membership would enable students to work and study in other countries.
Kosovo currently has a very large number of students. On the one hand, this is a good thing if education is first a quality education. Second, if the market potential in Kosovo is really willing to absorb all these experts leaving schools. So, we would like to see a very important link between the market at this moment in Kosovo, the business community should also engage because it has to show the ministry what kind of specialists will be needed in the next five, seven or ten years when you are just finishing your schooling. So you have to have a specialization that will naturally be absorbed by the market. I can tell you that once you are a member state, the view changes completely because once you have a degree from a member state and this is the beauty of the European Union's educational system, your diploma is known in «any of the 28 member states”, she said.
Minister Bytyqi said that in order to put a balance between these two, young people should be stimulated to choose to study areas where Kosovo is lacking.
We have such a situation in Kosovo today. We have many professions in which we miss our young people to deal with these professions. A career destination is not a hit. You are now in the phase of making your profession for your future. You should do a good analysis here. Not only do you run for a university. Your orientation should be in a profession that will ensure a good future. Today we have technical sciences with extraordinary shortages in Kosovo, we have engineers of various fields who have extraordinary shortages in Kosovo. If our young people were to be instructed in professions that we lack, the employment issue would not be discussed. We have today a large number of our unemployed young people, while when looking for certain business or profession institutions, we don't find people to work on. So we see that we have a disbalancing. I think we have a duty both as a state, but parents and young people have a better career orientation”, he said.
Likewise, Minister Bytyqi said they are committed to providing the best conditions for education in Kosovo. Until he appealed that teachers not only view their profession as a job but as a sacred mission to educate new generations.
