The introduction of the tax on the <x0nd nation's path” in Albania has sparked numerous reactions on both sides of the border. For northern residents and Kosovars of 5 euros, the tax had been named high even for its price, there were protests that were evacuated.
Officials from the Infrastructure Ministry had requested meeting with Albania's Government to discuss any solution that would be sustainable for all citizens.
Although they have requested this, this ministry has not received any confirmation of the meeting in question.
In an answer to Indexline, they say that although they have requested a meeting by Infrastructure and Energy Minister Damian Gjiknuri on the subject, they have not received any confirmation from that day.
From the very beginning of this matter, we've dealt intensively with it and expressed our differences, also asking the Minister of Gjiknuri for the topic in question. To this day, we have not received any confirmation of the meeting in question. However, we have expressed readiness to sit down and talk about a solution that will be permanent for all citizens”, says the Ministry of Infrastructure's response.
Furthermore, this ministry has declared it will insist that this price be reduced and made more suitable for the economic conditions of our citizens.
And we will see in the future how this issue, which is of concern to us, will be resolved, because the initial cost of this fee is high for Kosovo citizens and Kosovo goods carriers. We, as we have constantly requested, will insist that this price be reduced and made compatible with the economic conditions of our citizens”, have declared further.
Otherwise, as a sign of protest for the price of tariffs set for “The nation's path”, the citizens of Albania have set fire to the sports where such payments should be made.
For this reason, the Government of Albania has delayed paying the fee for this highway for at least 2 months.
