Serbia will not accept Kosovo's membership in the United Nations Organisation in exchange for the Association of Serb municipalities.
Thus has the chairman of the Parliamentary Commission for Kosovo declared in Serbia's Parliamentary Assembly, Milovan Drescu, and has reiterated that reaching compromise through dialogue is the only acceptable solution.
Any pressure or plan that forces Serbia to act against the defined bottom limits is simply destined to fail. Of course, the stance of Western countries, of those who have recognised Kosovo as a state, such as would like us to recognise that self-declared state and to make it a member of the United Nations. All of those (in the media) statements about offers are really trying to show Serbia is offered everything for nothing, and that, of course, is not acceptable”, Drescu told Radio Belgrade, broadcasting Koha.net.
Media in Belgrade have earlier written that Western states are considering the option of changing the format of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
While it said that one of the models being thought to be involved in the dialogue is more than one mediator and that one quickly achieves what is unacceptable for Serbia.
The “what we offer is to sit at the table of discussion and reach a compromise solution for Kosovo's final status, everything else is far from accepting Serbia”, he added.
