The Ministry of Labour and Social Management and the University of Pristina, “Hasan Pristina”, have signed today the co-operation agreement for the involvement of 200 students in work training, in public institutions, public and private enterprises, as well as NGOs.

Labour Minister Skender Recica said this agreement signed today is good news for 200 UP students who the theoretical teachings will be realized in practice.

This co-operation we're going to demonstrate today with a co-operation agreement between the Ministry of Labour and Social Goods and the University of Pristina that it's about an agreement that will benefit at least 200 students who teach theory during research time make it practical. And I believe that this opportunity for students will be a very good opportunity for them because those theoretical teachings will be possible even in studies, but even when they finish their studies, they'll be able to affect in practice”, he said.

The minister said that with the aim of easing unemployment, activities should be co-ordinated and co-operation deepen not only with relevant public institutions, but also with businesses, in line with labour market needs.

Rector Marjan Dema said this agreement is an excellent opportunity for students to prepare for the labour market. He also mentioned the main challenge the UP's face today, which is the lack of a budget.

We also have challenges, the main challenges we have in the absence of budget, we have very small numbers of academic and non-academic staff. Then we lack spaces, labs, we expect government assistance to help us get many programs that are at risk of closing, have the biggest budget for the strategic plan to be carried out, just as we have before”, he said.

While Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj, present at the signing of this agreement, said he is aware of the challenges the UPI has today, while being optimistic about employing UPP students.

He confirmed government support for Pristina University in realising its goals.

I am confident that even the men and women of this university have found ways to advance their programming goals. What I can say on behalf of the government is... to strengthen this university's autonomy. Professional people at all levels of education. Our job is with you as well as with you. Of course, then we await the results. I know you have challenges and difficulties and it's not easy, but you have the great hope that the university that used to be a nursery and the basis of Kosovo freedom will become a flagkeeper of our statehood and prosperity”, Limaj said.

And signing a similar agreement was warned by Education Minister Shyqi Bytyqi.

According to him, institutions should give students room for what they learned in theory to practice at work.

“We, like Government and the Minister, want to give space to our students so that what they learned in theory at universities, they can have it in practice. In this area the Labour Ministry has taken a positive step and considers that we are in the same step, I believe we will soon have another deal with our ministry that will be back on the matter of student practice, and this is the ongoing step of supporting the ministry that has the obligation, but for which we also see a new development in the field of university support in particular of supporting young people<1>, Bytyqi said.

He said co-operation of institutions will continue in the future with the UPI, enriching further forms of co-operation. /
