Popular anger in Russia against President Putin continues. As it gets ready to receive its fourth mandate, mass demonstrations took place on Saturday across the country. At least 1 thousand protesters were arrested, among them the opposition leader himself.
In Russia the opposition leader was arrested during a rally against President Putin. Alexei Navajo was arrested in Moscow in the midst of a rioting crowd two days before Vladimir Putin's oath of a fourth term in the Kremlin.
Earlier this year, Navalny was prevented from running for president in front of Putin, due to a fraud indictment, which the leader of the Russian opposition calls fabricated.
According to the BBC, at least a thousand protesters were arrested Saturday at anti-presidential gatherings in Moscow, St. Petersburg and other cities throughout Russia. Anti-putin slogans such as “Next to Care” and “Burg for Karin”
Putin was elected to his fourth term with more than 76% of votes, reaching one of the best electoral results during his political career. But according to foreign observers, the March month process was marked by massive irregularities.
