Vetevendosje Movement MP Lieburn Aliu, and SKV activist Beryta Abazi at a media conference have spoken of the measure of arrest of six SKV activists with 30 days in custody. Their immediate release was requested at this conference.
We believe that they were condemned yesterday for not hearing their confession and not for the injuries they suffered. They're hurt in many body parts. Once released, they would have much to show, so their sentence was pronounced for 30 days. So six months in total”, Ali said.
He added that detention is the penalty that is easily applied to activists and students, and especially when it concerns its Vetevendosje Movement or sympathies.
“This detention, we see as the police punishment that continues police violence in the city park where there was no camera”, he said.
And activist Beryta Abazi said activists, besides the brutality in the city park, also suffered violence in Kosovo Police environments. She, she said, witnessed the excessive use of police force. The same had confirmed the Kosovar Centre for the rehabilitation of Torture Survivors.
According to her, some of the arrested students are missing the test deadline. They would have to be in their schools and in their daily activities, while police would have to be busy chasing the many criminals Kosovo has.
“The ever-great police presence with its brutality is an indication that real policies are lacking in this country, well-being is lacking, and state responsibility is lacking”, she said.
