Today he met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov in Mostar. Vuciq and Borisov will discuss more widely at the upcoming Sofia summit, to be held 17 May this year. The summit has been threatened with boycotting participation from Spain, as it has been confirmed that Kosovo representatives will participate, reports “b92”, Periscopi broadcast.
“Any conflict will bring us back a hundred years, ” said President Vuciq, adding that, “I tried to convince Borisov that Serbia will do everything in its power to maintain peace and stability and that we will react patiently and tolerance and thus try to solve our problems in the region, because each conflict will bring us back a hundred years”.
President Vuciq thanked Bulgaria's prime minister, whose presence in Mostar is considered very important, and, he says, seriously looks at the situation in the region as the prime minister of the EU presidency.
When it comes to bilateral relations, especially economic ones, Serbia and Bulgaria have no problems, says President Vuciq, but a growing trade exchange, now to 1 billion euros, increasing year-on-year.
Dje Vuciq announced in Mostar that the format for participation in the EU and Western Balkans summit in Sofia should be discussed only after meetings with European and world officials who will come to Serbia in the coming days.
I hope, he says, there's a good solution for everyone. Even though Bulgaria stressed that the summit in Sofia will not be a dedicated summit for “enlargement”, of the “European perspective, development and co-operation with the region”, Madrid conditioned its presence with no mention of the state of Kosovo as participants in the summit, but only with the appointment and expected presence of Pristina representatives.
Meanwhile, the Bulgarian presidency reiterated that work on organising the summit is still under way and that the principle of neutrality of Kosovo's status will be respected./Periscopi/
