According to Greek media sources, the plane that crashed has been one of two aircraft that were sent to escort a Turkish plane during a patrol on Thursday morning.
However, it is reported that the Mirage 2000-5 aircraft has not been involved in conflict with the Turkish plane, but the cause of its crash or the fate of the Greek pilot is still unknown.
The Greek Air Force has claimed to have lost contact with the plane at 12:15 today, while it has become known that the pilot's search operation has begun.
The incident comes at a time when Turkey and Greece are involved in a territorial conflict that has caused toughness of language between officials of the two states.
