Smoke is everywhere. Smoke cigarettes are on fire. Thousands of citizens have gone out to mark today's national marijuana presentation day in front of Canada's parliament, lighting marijuana and celebrating.
This event is happening just a week before the Canadian Parliament votes for legalisation or not marijuana at the Government's request. But it seems that citizens were not expected. They want to make sure that the decision is made, and it is to manifest marijuana day.
The federal government has pledged legalisation of the recreative use of marijuana and is expected to submit the law for voting this week before Parliament goes to spring break.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been clear in his reason for legalisation. He has said known drugs must be legalised to minimise the access of minors to marijuana and reduce criminal activity for illegal marijuana trade.
Our “Our focus is on protecting our children and protecting our streets”, has declared Trudeau at the meeting with the “The Economist”, in Toronto last June.
