Thaci's two-year failure as president

On April 7, 2016, former chairman of Hashim Thaci's PDK took over the post of Kosovo president. Now, for two years Thaci has failed to become a unifying figure, such as the president should be under the Constitution, the newspaper “Zer” writes today.

For two years, President Hashim Thaci has failed to be “the unification figure of the people”, as envisioned to be the first state under the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo. It is even estimated that during these two years Thaci has failed to leave behind the political rivalry of the time he was head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo. He has continued to be a divisive figure on the Kosovo political scene, accusing opposition parties, with particular emphasis on movement “Vetevendosje”. Opposition parties say Thaci cannot represent the unity of the people. And political analysts say Thaci has never managed to bring together political parties to discuss important issues. They also say that Thaci has never visited municipalities governed by parties that at the central level are in opposition.

“Replace”: Thaci represents division

Thus, according to her, Thaci rather than the unity of the people represents divisions. “This so-called president of the Republic, who instead of the unity of the people, represents its divisions, instead of protecting the Republic, symbolizes its deviance, instead of guaranteeing independent institutions include as no other capture and usurping any independent institution and instead of accessing the rule of law and law, gives authority orders for anti-law”, Kurti has concluded.

Avdyli: Thaci is overcoming presidential duties

Democratic League of Kosovo MP Haxhi Avdyli has told the newspaper “Zeri” that the head of state is overcoming the president's competencies. He has even said that Thaci does not represent the unity of the people. “This president, who has come under a coalition agreement, instead of carrying out his defined duties with the Constitution, is currently getting out of his duties. This president is political and is not of unity. He has an excessive protagonism that is costing the state. I'm referring to the initiative to abolish the Special Court and to deportation the jihadists, since Thaci is responsible for”, Avdyli is expressed. According to Avdyli, with these actions Thaci has even damaged Kosovo's image in the international arena. “This man does not accept failures, but he tries to take only credit for any success even if it is not his due. Every day of this person's stay in the presidential post costs Kosovo. He does not resign, but the sooner he is fired, the better he will be for the country. Because Kosovo doesn't need a president with whom the citizens of the powerful” don't meet, Avdyli has said further.

Even Social Democrat Initiative deputy Zafir Berisha has said Thaci does not represent the unity of the people. The figure of Hashim Thaci specifically plays the opposite of what the Constitution says. He does not represent the unity of the people. Thaci is the most widely-described person for such an important position of state. We have seen that Thaci has not undertaken any action by the unifying”, Berisha has said. According to Berisha, President Thaci is even creating Kosovo's poor image in the international arena. It's “It's coming to power with machivelist methods. The work of the current president is the worst photograph for Kosovo, as it stands behind some harmful actions and agreements for Kosovo. If there is any person who creates poor image of Kosovo, it is Hashim Thaci”, Berisha has added.

Tahiri: Thaci does not represent unity for several reasons

Politologist Ramush Tahiri has told the newspaper “Voice” that in the case where the country's president was formerly the chairman of a party cannot be expected to be unifying.
He has further cited some of the reasons Thaci did not perform the task of unifying.

This has never called party leaders to a table to discuss various issues. He has not visited municipalities where the LDK is ruling or Qaeda to see local government implementation and to see the needs of those municipalities. He has only one party advisor on his team. The president represents the state inside and abroad, but for dialogue with Serbia he would also have to meet with the opposition to receive their assessment”, Tahiri has praised.
