President Hashim Thaci and Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj have spoken of fighting corruption as a criterion for visa liberalisation.
In their comments on the issue, at the gathering of the National Council Against Corruption, Thaci and Haradinaj said they believe that citizens will soon be able to move without visas.
Thaci, not mentioning a specific time when visas could be liberalised, said only there is a competition from the EU that Kosovo has met 95 criteria for visa liberalisation, writes Periscopi.
It is a common conclusion that Kosovo has met 95 criteria for liberalisation, fighting corruption is the permanent battle that all states and those within the EU” carry out, Thaci said, at the meeting of the National Anti-Corruption Council, writes Periscopi.
He said the fight against corruption continues to remain a challenge for Kosovo.
“We know that fighting crime and corruption is not easy, but we have to move on. The challenges that are due to the meetings of this Council have been different: institutional co-operation, functioning of law mechanisms, prosecuting organised crime and corruption in particular, increasing the number of concrete cases which end with judgments”, he said.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said Kosovo will return to success stories in terms of fighting corruption.
He said that the long-awaited news of visa liberalisation could come from the European Union very soon.
“I am convinced that Kosovo will return to success stories in the fight against corruption. I guess our status too. Visa liberalisation is a more urgent issue that citizens have long been waiting for I hope very much in the coming days The EU will also be able to deliver the long-awaited news of visa liberalisation”, Haradinaj said. /Periscope.
