During this week, a European Union delegation is expected to come to Kosovo, which will collect data from Kosovo institutions on how much has been worked on meeting the latest criteria for abolishing visas. So has announced to the newspaper “Voice” Minister of European Integration Gift Hoxha, who has said the visit will take place on May 3rd.
In this case Hoxha has indicated that the institutions have already made all necessary preparations on this issue, meanwhile, it has voiced confidence that Kosovo will receive positive results.
Minister of European Integration, Gift Hoxha, has made known to “Zen” that the EU delegation will remain in Kosovo from 3 May to 5 May.
The EU's assessment “will be in Kosovo next week, from 3-5 May. They have seen a busy agenda of meetings with all institutions, where their work is linked to the implementation of the criteria of targeted cases, otherwise also known as Colack Records, or the fight against crime and corruption. The ministry of Integration has made co-ordinating the agenda with the mission from the EU and our institutions”, Hoxha has declared.
Meanwhile Albana Merja, connoisseur of the integration and liberalisation process, has considered visa liberalisation for Kosovo currently at an extremely important point, which according to it requires serious efforts by institutions (for fighting organised crime and corruption).
Besides that, according to Merja, a consensus should be reached in EU institutions on finalising liberalisation.
The “is required to reach a joint decision-making in the European Parliament, as well as a political consensus on the EU Council, as although visa liberalisation requires approval in the majority qualified Council (a majority of 55% of member states which represent 65% of the EU population in total) it is very difficult to pass this change without the political consensus reached with all member states, because it is part of the security policy for which these countries are very sensitive”, it has declared for <x2Zin<7).
The approach further has indicated that the visa-free decision must pass through several EU institutions, where after the total approval it can enter into force after 20 days.
“in order for Kosovo to liberalise visas must be amended rule order no. 593/2001, in which third countries rank, citizens who need visas to enter the Schengen area. If the Commission's proposal is voted into the largely qualified plenary session in the European Parliament, as well as approved by the Council with the above procedure, then the decision goes into effect 20 days after publishing in the official EU notebook. In order for the Commission's recommendation to become part of the parliament's agenda must be received positive assessment of the fulfillment of the latest <x1) criteria, it has clarified.
All in the end, Merja has considered that the attention of institutions during these months should be in the continuation of the fight against organised crime and corruption at high levels.
